KILN KEEPER

Fire the kiln through the night. Ride the heat; open it at dawn.

Mouse, touch, keyboard or gamepad. Sound recommended.

How to play

A wood kiln has to follow a firing curve: a slow climb, a hot soak so the glaze melts, sometimes a smoky reduction, and a gentle cool-down. Keep your temperature line inside the glowing band on the chart.

Stoke (Space, tap STOKE or the firebox): add a log. The fire has a rhythm: as the logs burn down the ring around STOKE closes and the fire calls. Stoke on the call for a perfect stoke: a bright flare and ash on the front pots. Too early wastes heat; onto a full fire it smothers.

Damper (W / S): opens the chimney. More draft makes the fire burn harder but pulls heat up the flue.
Air ports (A / D): feed air to the fire. Close them and stoke heavy for a smoky, starved reduction flame (the blue band).

Too hot and pots crack or slump. Too cold and the glaze stays raw. Cooling too fast cracks them. At dawn you open the kiln and see what the fire made: ash, flashing, jade celadon or raw dull glaze.

Gamepad: A stoke, d-pad up/down damper, left/right air, Start pause.
